€1m to be spent on Rotunda renovation despite impending relocation

More than one million euro is to be spent on re-developing mortuary services at the Rotunda hospital in Dublin, despite plans for the facility to move location.

The maternity hospital is set to relocate to the Connolly Hospital campus in Blanchardstown.

However, the Irish Independent reports that state investment is to go ahead at the current site.

The hospital said there is an on-going need for post mortem examinations to find out the cause of deaths, miscarriages and stillbirths.
