Family of Limerick man killed in the US request more assistance from department of foreign affairs

The family of a Limerick man killed in a domestic incident in North Carolina have said that they need greater assistance from the department of foreign affairs.

Limerick man Jason Corbett died during a domestic incident, and his two children Jack and Sarah are currently being cared for by their stepmother's family.

Mr Corbett's family have said that they are concerned for the welfare of the children who are the subject of a custody hearing on Friday.

Family friend Mary Fitzpatrick says the family needs help, as the cost of the case will be huge.

"There was a four figure sum paid straight away, just to retain an attorney, that's without him doing any services at all," said Ms Fitzpatrick.

"Then there were the flights to go over, paid for with borrowed money. And this is a working class family."
