Westlife star Shane Filan's brother to run for Renua in election

The brother of former Westlife singer Shane Filan is to run in the general election.

Finbarr Filan will run for Renua in Sligo-Leitrim.

The 47-year-old has never run for office before, and currently runs a Centra store that employs 22 people.

The brothers also ran a property development company which collapsed in 2012, leading Shane Filan to file for bankruptcy.

Finbarr Filan said he had firsthand experience of the needs of retail businesses, and wanted to help the SME sector by running for office.
