Donnybrook hosts fundraiser for Berkeley balcony victim Aoife Beary
Friends and supporters of Berkeley victim Aoife Beary are holding a fundraising event at Donnybrook Stadium in Dublin today.
Aoife was celebrating her 21st birthday in the Berkeley apartment where the balcony collapsed last month, killing six people and injuring seven others.
Aoife remains in hospital in California, where she is receiving treatment for a brain injury. She remains in serious condition, having been moved from the ICU in hospital to a rehabilitation centre.
100% of funds raised at today's event will go towards Aoife's rehabilitation costs.
The Mixed Tag Rugby event will kick off at 11am, while there will also be a BBQ and family events, and Irish rugby star Sean O'Brien will be in attendance.
"The idea behind it is to bring some fun, something thing positive - out of such a tragic situation," she said spokesperson Arwen Foley.
"If you can't turn up the on the day, you can still make a donation online," Foley said.
