500 families living in emergency homeless accommodation
Over 500 families are in emergency homeless accommodation in Dublin, according to a new report.
The Dublin Region Homeless Executive said the second quarter of this year saw a significant rise in money being spent on hotel rooms for homeless people in the city and county.
The organisation says €1.6 million was spent between January and March, and by the end of June that had increased to €4.5 million.
The number of families housed in emergency accommodation this summer is up over 250 on last year. 531 families are living in emergency accommodation – up from 264 last year.
