Pharmacies to offer cancer information service
The first ever cancer information service is becoming available in a pharmacy chain.
The scheme is supported by the Irish Cancer Society and will offer information on cancer support services in the locality. The service will be available in Boots pharmacies.
The aim is to increase awareness of services available for those fighting cancer and their relatives.
An average of 30,000 new cancer cases are diagnosed here each year, which is expected to rise to over 40,000 a year by 2020.
Boots Ireland said anyone who wants to call in for advice or support will be seen immediately, without an appointment, in a private area.
The company also said it would outline information for relatives involved in care.
