Irish people who lost their lives in the First and Second World Wars will be commemorated at a national ceremony this afternoon.

Irish people who lost their lives in the First and Second World Wars will be commemorated at a national ceremony this afternoon.

The Royal British Legion in Ireland has organised the event at the National War Memorial Gardens in Islandbridge, Dublin.

An estimated 60,000 Irish men and women served and died in the conflicts.

Minister for Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Heather Humphreys, will represent the Government at the ceremony, and will lay a wreath.
