Former Finance Minister Charlie McCreevy is before the banking inquiry today.

He will be asked about inter-departmental contact and agreements with other EU states on the banking issue, and the appropriateness of the bank guarantee decision.

Mr McCreevy, who was finance minister from 1997 to 2004, will also be questioned about the relationship between the Department and banking institutions and the effectiveness of the communication between the Central Bank and Department of Finance.

Other senior officials from the Department of Finance who had key roles during the crisis period, Ann Nolan and Donal McNally, are also appearing before the Inquiry this morning.
