Athlone couple die after Sousse shooting
Tributes are being paid to an Athlone couple killed in Friday's mass shooting on a Tunisian beach.
They have been named locally as Laurence and Martina Hayes.
The Department of Foreign Affairs stressed that the formal identification process was still not complete.
Westmeath Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) tweeted a message of condolence to the family.
“Sincere sympathy to the Hayes family Athlone who suffered their tragic losses in the terror shooting in Tunisia,” it said.
An Irish Embassy team on the ground in Tunisia is not currently aware of any other cases of potential concern in relation to Irish citizens.
Foreign Affairs minister Charlie Flanagan said consul support was being provided to the affected families.
“This is a tragic and difficult time for the families and loved ones of those concerned,” he said.
Three Irish people have now died as a result of the attack in Sousse.
Mother-of-two Lorna Carty from Meath was the first Irish victim to be identified.
In all, 38 people, mostly holidaymakers, lost their lives in the gun attack.
