Government appoint former FG senator to €250K EU role
The Government has appointed a former Fine Gael senator to a lucrative European role worth €250,000 per year.
Former senator and barrister Eugene Regan will take over as Ireland's member of the European Court of Justice in October.
Mr Regan was called to the bar in 1985 and has practised as a barrister for 20 years, while also running for the Dáil for Fine Gael in 2007.
The Government said his appointment was recommended by an independent expert group chaired by a former High Court judge.
