Women's Aid reports 16,500 domestic abuse cases

Women's Aid heard almost 16,500 reports of domestic abuse against women, and almost 6000 cases of abuse of children in 2014.

The charity said it has just had its funding cut by 20% by the Child and Family Agency, Tusla.

Women's Aid has created a video featuring women's testimonies of abuse.

"I was pregnant - only about three or four weeks - and he beat me so bad in my stomach, and he left me … and after two days, I had a miscarriage.

"He blamed me for that. He said: 'you're just not careful about yourself'.
