Pro-Life Campaign calls Amnesty 'de facto abortion lobby'

The Pro-Life Campaign is accusing Amnesty International of being a "de facto abortion lobbying group".

It follows an Amnesty report which says the lives of Irish women are being put at risk by a ‘deliberate denial of care’ under the Eighth Amendment and the Protection of Life During Pregnancy Act.

The group claims the current situation denies the human rights of women in cases of rape or fatal foetal abnormality.

But Cora Sherlock of the Pro-Life Campaign said she's shocked by the campaign.

"Amnesty today has confirmed that it is really a de facto abortion lobbying group because it is being extremely selective in the human rights that it is choosing to protect. It is completely ignoring the right to life of the unborn child," said Ms Sherlock.
