Nurses defer strike after hospital agrees recruitment date for new staff

Members of the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation at Beaumont Hospital have agreed to defer industrial action.

The action was due to begin tomorrow and centred around a row over the recruitment of staff at the Emergency Department.

However, following negotiations at the LRC, management at the hospital have agreed commencement dates for new staff, who will take up employment in the coming weeks.

They have also agreed to put interim measures in place to ensure all shifts in the department are fully covered until the newly recruited nurses come on board.
