Squatter jailed for 14 days

The High Court has made an order jailing a Grangegorman squatter for 14 days for failing to vacate the premises.

Mr Justice Paul Gilligan has found him in contempt of an order made last March directing the occupants to leave the squat so the properties can be sold by a receiver.

Mr Bedford today told the court that the collective had found a potential buyer for the site and he asked for more time to lodge an appeal against the order to vacate.

The judge told him that he can purge his contempt at any stage.
