Talks resume tomorrow to resolve bus dispute

Dublin Bus, Bus Éireann and Unions representing drivers will return to the Labour Relations Commission tomorrow in an effort to resolve a dispute at the companies.

The LRC has invited the parties to negotiations just days before the second in a series of planned strikes is due to take place.

The Government intends to privatise 10% of routes across the country, however drivers are concerned about how this will impact their pay and conditions.

General Secretary of the National Bus and Rail Union Dermot O'Leary says the row won't be solved quickly:

"Whilst we are able to attend any discussions in relation to the dispute, it is important to realise that there are a number of complex issues involved here that have been well-ventilated at this stage," said Mr. O'Leary.

"So it's for all the parties to collectively address the issues on the agreed agenda. And we are quite willing to go to those talks. It is up to all the parties to make a commitment in the same fashion."
