Prisoner found dead in Mountjoy cell

A prisoner has been found dead in his cell at Mountjoy Prison in Dublin.

The Irish Prison Service says the man - who is in his late thirties - was discovered at 6.40 this morning.

He was pronounced dead and a post mortem examination will be carried out later to determine the cause of death.

An independent investigation will also be carried out.
