Pharmacists call for reversal of fee cuts
Pharmacists are calling for a reversal of cuts in professional fees under Financial Emergency Measures in the Public Interest (FEMPI) Legislation.
Members of the Irish Pharmacy Union are gathering in Killarney today for their National Conference.
The organisation said any Government plans to unwind the FEMPI legislation for health professionals should be applied equitably to pharmacists.
"Pharmacists were disproportionately impacted by FEMPI legislation in direct and indirect cuts to pharmacy payments," said Kathy Maher, President of the Irish Pharmacy Union.
"Any mechanism to unwind FEMPOI legislation for other groups [and] professions must be applied fairly and equally - we expect to be treated in an equitable fashion [and] we wouldn't settle for anything less."
