A Wexford man is among four people charged with attempting to smuggle cannabis into Northern Ireland.

They are due before Newry Magistrates Court this morning.

The herbal resin, with an estimated street value of more than £800,000, was concealed within pallets of orange juice.

Following a joint operation between the National Crime Authority and the PSNI, three men in Camlough, Northern Ireland, and a man in Birmingham were arrested on Thursday.

The 36-year-old man from Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford has been charged with importing a controlled drug and conspiracy to fraudulently import a class B controlled drug.

A 51-year-old man and a 62-year-old man, both from Birmingham, and a 53-year-old from Bridgnorth in England were also charged with drugs offences.

All four were remanded to appear at Newry Magistrates Court again this morning.
