A former Fianna Fáil councillor has been jailed for three years for soliciting someone to kill a garda, a Revenue official and an accountant.

A former Fianna Fáil councillor has been jailed for three years for soliciting someone to kill a garda, a Revenue official and an accountant.

Gary O'Flynn of Hayfield Drive, Whitechurch, Co Cork was given a five-year sentence with the last two years suspended by Judge Sean O Donnabhain at Cork Circuit Criminal Court.

The 39-year-old pleaded guilty to the three charges.

O'Flynn served on Cork City Council from Autumn 2003, when he was co-opted to replace his father, former Fianna Fáil TD, Noel O'Flynn, until he stood down in December 2008.
