Striking psychiatric nurses in Galway agree to return to work

Ten psychiatric nurses at University College Hospital Galway have agreed to go on duty this afternoon.

The nurses refused to work this morning over what they claimed are unsafe working conditions.

The Psychiatric Nurses Association (PNA) says that there have been 36 assaults on staff at the unit since the start of the year.

In a statement this afternoon, the PNA said that the 10 nurses have now agreed to go on duty after reaching an agreement with management to enter talks at the Labour Relations Commission next week.
