Books of condolence have been opened at civic offices in County Cork for the family of murdered student Karen Buckley.

The 24-year-old's relatives have reportedly returned to their home in Mourneabbey, awaiting the release of Karen's body by Scottish authorities.

A 21-year-old man, Alexander Pacteau, has been charged with her murder.

Local publican Derry Murphy knows the Buckleys and he says the community is doing what it can to support them.

Mr Murphy said: "The family are totally devastated and the community are there to support the family.

"The local community, and I suppose the community at large, the neighbouring parishes, are there to support the family."
