Two people arrested in Athlone drug bust

Gardaí involved in a drugs bust in Athlone earlier have arrested two people.

Two firearms were recovered, along with around €10,000 worth of cannabis herb and cannabis resin.

It followed a search of two houses in Goldsmith View in Athlone town.

A 24 year old man and 18 year old woman were detained and taken to Athlone Garda station.
