Explosive device made safe in Wexford

An explosive device has been made safe by the army bomb disposal team in Co Wexford.
It was discovered outside a house in Ballycanew just after midday.
The area was sealed off. A cordon was put in place and a number of nearby houses were evacuated.
The device was made safe at the scene without the need for a controlled explosion.
The scene was declared safe at 2pm.
So far this year the army bomb disposal team has been called out 38 times and has dealt with eight viable devices.
