Man found dead in Kerry is named

Gardai have named the man found dead in Co. Kerry this morning, after he was taken into custody last night.

Nigel Leigh, 42 of Fossa, Killarney was found near Kerry General Hospital in Tralee at around 7am this morning.

The Garda Siochana Ombudsman Commission is involved, as the man had been arrested for public order offences near his home yesterday evening.

He had been taken to Killarney Garda station, but was brought to Kerry General Hospital after he became ill.

It is understood that the man was no longer under the custody of gardaí when he died and the investigation into the circumstances which led to his death is continuing.
