Not too late for Dunnes Stores to prevent strike, says Minister

Business and Employment Minister Ged Nash has urged Dunnes Stores to do more to prevent next week's strike by workers.

A one-day strike will be held at Dunnes in a row over zero- and low-hour and temporary contracts.

Minister Nash said it is not too late for the company to resolve this dispute.

"I would call, again, on the company to engage in a meaningful fashion, with the trade unions, to address the issues that they've been raising on a consistent basis," he said.

"The trade union has brought the issues at hand to the court on several occasions over the last period of time, and I can understand why some would conclude that the company is treating the labour court in a very cavalier fashion."
