Anti-racism march taking place in Dublin

A march against racism is taking place in Dublin city centre this lunchtime.

The rally to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.

Campaigners gathered at the Central Bank for a rally, before marching up O'Connell Street to the Garden of Remembrance.

It is being organised by a number of anti-racist groups, civil society associations, NGOs, trade unions and others.

One marcher said: "I just think it's really important that we all have our human rights. We all live on the one planet, and we (should) look after each other."

Another commented: "There are two things I think are a national disgrace in Ireland. One of them is direct provision - we claim to be Ireland of the welcomes, but what we actually do is throw people in barracks and pay them €19 per week."

A third said: "There is that small group of racists, and there's no room for them in Irish society."
