VIDEO: Garda allegedly pepper-sprays homeless man
A video has surfaced on Facebook of a Garda allegedly pepper-spraying a homeless man in Dublin.
DIT student Philip Campion loaded the footage onto his Facebook page over the weekend and so far it has been viewed almost 400,000 times.
If you can't see the Facebook post, Philip has also loaded it onto YouTube.
Along with his post, Philip said: "This happened on my way home from college yesterday its absolutely outrageous behavior by a Garda on Henry Street Dublin.
"A poor homeless man was treated like an animal, when a Garda tried to arrest him he pushed him against the floor and pepper sprayed him right in the eyes when the poor man was clearly not making any sort of an attack or movement towards the Garda.
"He then stood there with his leg on the man as if the man was going to run somewhere. This is the sort of thing that really pisses me off !!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
The Irish Times reported that a Garda spokesman declined to comment on it.
However, the spokesman also said anyone with concerns about any incident could contact the Garda Ombudsman Commission.
