Two friends who have been playing the same Lotto numbers for over 20 years have today collected a cheque for €10.2m after they scooped the biggest jackpot of the year.

The pair from Newbridge in Co Kildare won the rollover jackpot with an €8 multi-draw ticket.

Their numbers represent significant birthdays in their two families.

They have asked to remain private but revealed they plan to pay off a number of mortgages for family members and to give some of their winnings to charity.
