USI launches 'Mental Drinking' campaign

Third-level students are being encouraged to examine their attitudes to alcohol.

A new campaign to tackle binge drinking is being launched by the Union of Students in Ireland, which looks at its links with mental health.

A student alcohol awareness roadshow will take place this week as part of the 'Mental Drinking' campaign.

Vice president for welfare at the USI, Greg O'Donoghue, says they will also be doing research to measure students' outlook on binge drinking.

He said: "As part of this campaign we're doing pre- and post-campaign research.

"We've done research back in November, and we'll be doing the same again in April to make sure that students understand the mesage of this campaign."
