Minister Fitzgerald to address Cork meeting on same-sex marriage referendum

The people of Cork will have the chance to have their say on the same-sex marriage referendum at a meeting later.

The Fine Gael LGBT group will host a public information meeting on the issue in the Gresham Metropole Hotel at 8pm this evening.

Anyone who has any questions in relation to same-sex marriage is being encouraged to attend.

Minister for Justice Frances Fitzgerald will also speak at the event.

Vice-chair of the group Marcella Corcoran Kennedy said they hoped to address people's queries and concerns, and to take any questions.

"(The questions) I'm hearing at the moment is what is the difference between civil marriage and civil partnership, and how are people allowed to adopt - all that kind of thing," she said.

"We see (this evening's meeting) as a listening exercise, but also as an information-sharing exercise."
