Irishman killed in Australian shopping mall explosion

An Irishman has been killed after an explosion at a shopping mall in Australia.

It's understood a transformer exploded in the Galleria Shopping Centre in Morley - a suburb of Perth.

Two people, including the Irish national, were killed in the blast.

Several others were injured.

The Department of Foreign Affairs here has confirmed that it has been in touch with the dead man's family and is providing them with consular assistance.
