Raiders steal keys to Mercedes from house before crash at industrial estate

Two masked men entered a house and took the keys of a Mercedes car last night , which was later crashed in an industrial estate.

The men left the scene at Charlemont, Griffith Ave, Marino, Dublin 3, in the Mercedes and a Mitsubishi Colt.

Gardaí were immediately made aware of the incident and members from the Organised Crime Unit observed both vehicles travelling on the M3 outbound.

A short time later the driver of the Mercedes lost control and crashed the car in the Damastown Industrial Estate.

There were no injuries sustained.

The driver of the car fled from the scene. A 26-year-old was arrested a short time later.

He is currently detained at Clontarf Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 – Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Gardaí in Raheny are continuing to investigate.
