Minister Varadkar intervenes in nurses' fee dispute
Unions and organisations representing nurses have welcomed the Health Minister's intervention in the registration fee dispute.
The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland are being criticised over a 50% increase in the registration fee.
The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation is calling on its members to only pay the existing fee of €100.
In a statement issued this afternoon, the unions said the Minister's intervention "comes at a time when, despite repeated intimidatory statements by the Board towards nurses and midwives, the campaign of opposition remains strong."
"In the interim the three unions reaffirm that the campaign remains strong, nurses and midwives are united in opposition to this totally unjustifiable increase and continue to call upon members to pay the existing fee of €100 euro for 2015."
