Nearly 2,000 without power over stormy conditions

Around 1,900 households are without power this morning due to stormy conditions in parts of the country overnight.

The majority of customers affected are in Cavan and Monaghan, with around 700 outages recorded.

The ESB is reporting further outages in west Mayo with around 600 homes affected and approximately 500 homes are without power across Wicklow, Kilcoole and Artane - with a further 90 in the North West.

Power crews have been dispatched to restore power and the ESB expects service will be restored to all homes by mid-morning.
