Search for man seen entering River Suir called off for the night

The search for a man in his 30s seen entering the River Suir in Waterford has been called off for the night.

It happened at around 5.05pm on the new bridge over the River Suir on the city bypass.

A major search operation was launched involving all the emergency services and local volunteer river rescue groups.

The Waterford based Coastguard Helicopter also carried out searches.

Gardaí in Waterford are appealing to anyone who was travelling on the bypass or bridge at around 5pm and who saw anything to contact them.
