Three members of an Irish family are in a serious condition in hospital after a car crash in Australia.

Gerard and Marguerite Brosnan - who are both in their 50s - and from Port Road in Killarney - were visiting their daughter in Perth when the car they were travelling in collided with another car on Sunday night.

The 56-year-old Australian man who was driving their car was killed in the crash.

Gerard Brosnan is in a critical but stable condition, his wife and daughter Karen are both described as serious but stable.

The 20-year-old driver of the other car has been charged with drink driving and dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm.

He will appear in court in February.
