Sydney court imposes strict bail conditions on Irishman in single-punch assault case

An Antrim man who has been charged with recklessly causing grievous bodily harm to his brother in Sydney has been released on bail.

33-year-old Barry Lyttle appeared in court earlier today and his 74-year-old father was present for the hearing.

His 31-year-old brother Patrick is recovering in the Intensive Care Unit at St. Vincents Hospital in Sydney, following an alleged single-punch assault which left him in a critical condition.

Senior reporter at the Daily Mail Australia, Daniel Piotrowski says strict bail conditions have been applied:

Mr Piotrowski said: "He's not allowed to approach his injured brother Patrick within 12 hours of consuming alcohol.

"Obviously the alleged attack in Sydney's nightclub district at the weekend involved some level of alcohol, although it appears to be quite small."
