Cobh deaths: Father Michael to be buried today
Michael Greaney, who died in an apparent murder suicide at his family home in Cobh in Co Cork on Sunday, is to be buried today.
Yesterday, hundreds of mourners gathered at St Colman’s Cathedral in Cobh for the funeral Mass of Michael's wife, 49-year-old Valerie Greaney, who died after being stabbed by her husband, who later took his own life.
Their daughter Michelle was also injured in the incident, she attended the funeral with her sister.
Michael's funeral will take place this afternoon and will be strictly private.
The HSE is investigating the deaths, as Michael had been released from the Central Mental Hospital in Dublin less than two months before the tragedy.
In his homily yesterday, Fr O’Donoghue said the family would have many questions to which there are no answers.
"We are left with many questions to which there are no answers. To explore them would not give us much in return," he said.
"Quick answers which seem to fit will not help here."
