Waterford teenager hospitalised after late-night NYE attack

A teenager is undergoing surgery in University Hospital Waterford following an attack in the city last night.

The 19-year-old was assaulted by another youth in the Poleberry area at around 11.50pm, leaving him with serious head injuries.

The suspected attacker was arrested close to the scene and is currently being held at Waterford Garda Station.
