INMO: 50% hike in nurses registration fee 'untenable'
The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation says the increase in registration fees for 2015 is unreasonable.
The Nursing and Midwifery Board has increased the fee from €100 to €150, with tomorrow the deadline for payment.
Liam Doran of the INMO says it is an unfair hike.
He said: "The registration council for all the health professionals have left their fee at €100.
"But yet the Nursing Board increase it by 12% last year and now they are coming back to increase it by 50% this year at a time when nurses and midwives have suffered 15-20% pay cuts and inflation is at 1%.
"So it isn't tenable, what the board is doing."
