Five families in Clare facing homelessness due to 'unsafe' houses
Five families in county Clare are facing homelessness just days before Christmas.
The shocked families were given three days notice to leave their houses at the Abbey West estate in Bellharbour after a survey found the homes were "unsafe for habitation".
The notice to leave was served to the residents on Tuesday.
They are now seeking legal advice.
Resident Jim McKee says people are angry at the short notice, and the fact they've been informed so close to Christmas:
"I've nowhere to go," he told Clare FM. "Where do you go this close to Christmas?"
"I've lived here 11 years - there's a lot of stuff in my house. I'm an artist, there's paintings around, there's books, there's lots of stuff - I just couldn't move this quick to Christmas."
