HSE inquiry into Aras Attracta to be delayed
It has been confirmed that the HSE inquiry into treatment of residents at Aras Attracta will be delayed until after a garda inquiry is completed.
A series of investigations was launched following a documentary last week which raised allegations of mistreatment at the facility in Swinford, Co Mayo.
A number of people have been suspended from working at the care home while investigations are underway.
Junior Minister with responsibility for disabilities, Kathleen Lynch, says procedures have to be followed.
"The garda investigation has to take priority and as soon as that is completed, then most definitely our own investigation will have priority status," she said.
"But I cannot interfere - nor would I - in the garda investigation.
"I'm hoping that they will complete it as quickly as possible, they tell me they will."
