20 gardaí to begin working in Department of Social Protection to stop Social Welfare fraud

20 Gardaí are to begin work this week in the Department of Social Protection in an effort to combat Social Welfare fraud.

So far this year the Garda unit has generated savings of €64m - €23m of this is classed as recoverable overpayments.
