€2m extra in cultural institution funding announced
The Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Heather Humphreys, has announced an extra €2 million in funding for the National Cultural Institutions.
Some of the funds will be allocated to the National Museum of Ireland which has been in discussions about serious financial concerns at the organisation.
Earlier it was reported that the board of the museum had discussed closing all four of its sites from January 1 unless it received an increase in financial support from the Government.
