Police in the North are investigating an aggravated burglary in Ballymena county Antrim.

It is understood a number of men entered a house in the Moat Road area, where it’s believed a 39-year-old man was threatened with hammers and a handgun.

The man was assaulted before the culprits made off with a sum of cash.

The man was taken to hospital where he received treatment for minor injuries.

A 32-year-old woman and two children, aged 5 and 3, who were also in the house at the time, were not injured.

Three men - aged 35, 36 and 39 - are being questioned by police.
