Man dies in Roscommon workplace accident

A man in his 50s has died following an incident at a steel plant in Roscommon.

It happened in Ballaghaderreen at around 11am this morning.

It is believed a pile of steel fell on him.

The man was airlifted to Galway University Hospital where he died a short time later.

The scene has been preserved and the Health and Safety Authority are investigating.
