Fisherman rescued off coast of Sligo

An injured fisherman was rescued from a vessel 200 kilometres north west of Sligo today.

At around 5:30am this morning, the Coast Guard requested assistance for the operation and the Maritime Patrol Aircraft was at the scene at 7am.

The Coast Guard alongside the Air Corps then ensured the fisherman made a speedy transfer from Sligo airport to the nearest hospital, where he is recovering.
