Visitor 1,000,000 to Cliffs of Moher this year

The Cliffs of Moher in Co Clare welcomed its one millionth visitor of the year today.

Rita Shaw from Florida in the United States was greeted with music and a champagne reception at a minute past eleven this morning.

She also received a certificate marking the occasion and a return holiday to Co Clare worth €5,000.

It is the first time the milestone figure has been reached at the visitor attraction, as visitor numbers are up 12% on 2013 in the year to date.
