Immigration Bureau opens on Saturday to clear backlog
The Garda National Immigration Bureau opens on Saturday for a second time today in an attempt to reduce queues and improve the service, which was described by the former minister Alan Shatter as being in badly need of reform.
In an attempt to clear the backlog of applications for registration in this country, the bureau had opened its doors last Saturday also.
The Bureau carries out deportations, border control and investigations relating to illegal immigration and human trafficking.
