More than 5,000 vehicles were clamped in Dublin in September, while Friday before lunch is the most likely time to get caught.

Figures show that Dublin Street Parking Services clamped 5071 cars in September.

The worst place to park illegally was Merrion Square west where 82 cars were clamped while around 60 cars were caught on Dominick Street Lower, Jervis Street and Pearse Street.

More than 40% of cars were clamped for being parked in a pay and display or permit area without displaying a valid permit.

Friday is the day of the week that sees most cars clamped while between 7am and 2pm were the worst hours.
